Another look: Couture Spring 2012

Couture week is going on, so how can I sit and be so laid back about it? But I have been and that's coz my son has been a bit sick and my day is spent making sure he feels his 100% and eats well. But, I have been itching to do a post of my top favorite looks from the Couture show, and I am super excited. This stuff makes me really really happy :)
Aah, to the day when I would actually wear one of these beauties and walk nonchalantly around house, as if I have like 100's of these hanging in my closet - do my chores in them! Hmm...that's going too far.

Before I explode this article with images, my question to you is - What does haute couture mean to you? Do you think it can be worn outside of the fashion runway? We all can fall in love with the intricacies of a flower on the dress, but does that grand vision of a designer make for a desirable/affordable outfit?

I have always wondered the point behind haute couture because although I do understand the creative outlet it provides for certain clients ( I mean hello - traditionally couture is made to the exact measurements of the potential clients), but then I get lost on the sale-ability or common folk wear-ability of it. I mean I would be really uncomfortable with a feather sticking out of my ass - even if its a custom fit. If you know what I am trying to say.

Nonetheless, it still a welcome sight to the standard (read safe) dresses, pants and skirts swaying down the runway. It definitely is. It also the thing that sometimes a princess girl's/woman's dreams are made of.

Didn't mean to send you on a thinking trip...Anywhoway - here are my chicest choices from the other realm of designers for now.

BOUCHRA JARRAR
Am loving this woman! She is a French designer making her (big) splash...and if you haven't heard enough about her already, well let her clothes do the talking, darlings! Personally, I love her sense of style, details and the whole vision. She really had me at the fur wrap-harness thingy!

ALEXADRE VAUTHIER
Do you mean Gaultier? No, No, Vauthier. Ha ha, just being silly here!
This man is a genius. He knows how to make a simple blouse look like its drooling with sass. (Ooh, haven't used that word in years!) Simple elegant draping yet dripping with deep sensuality. Shiny leather booming with plumage causing the heart to flutter with deep desires. This is the type of designer whose clothes you must accumulate in your closet. After you have saved enough.

CHRISTOPHE JOSEE
Honestly, I did not know much about the designer or what to expect from his clothes. So, when I finally perused his collection, I instantly fell for his minimalistic yet totally mesmerising feel. The curve sheath dresses with clever cut-outs are my favorite. I also enjoyed the unexpected textured ones - how divine!  Oh, and did you know that the gowns with pops of unexpected color as well boldly mono colored ones took my breath away? Well, now you do!

MAURIZIO GALANTE
This Italian designer is a regular at the Paris Couture shows - no wonder he knows the drill. When I perused his collection, I noticed a bit of craziness and wildness in the clothes, and somehow it reminded me of the carnival that Gaultier put in his shows. I still loved the whimsical veils type of headcoverings, plastic crochet jackets, ribbon woven like shawls and net hybrid boleros. Pretty stuff some - and this my friend is pure Couture. According to me.
