Bells for Bally

I love nice clean leather products. Sometimes, yes, rarely sometimes I would like to throw in some texture, but usually I am sucker for soft leather in beautiful colors and shine. And, in this respect, I respect the following affordable leather houses that make such luxurious products: Cole Haan, Tod's, Bally and Coach.

And, then recently I came across Bally's 2012 ad campaign, and I was like, gotta share with my fellow leather lovers! So, here it is.

Dear Santa,

I have given you enough hint(s).

Happy Thanksgiving

Time to feast, have fun, talk non-sense, catch up with the happenings in life, enjoy the company of our friends and family...because its Thanksgiving!

Because this festival (ok, I like to call it festival as opposed to a holiday, because really it is a festivity) has the word "thanks" in it, you know exactly what I will be doing. Giving Thanks for:

  • A wonderful husband, a healthy happy son, awesome parents and loving sister (and her family)
  • Health and happiness of my grandparents and extended family
  • The opportunities of work flowing my way, especially the ones that are in line with  my passion
  • Following my passion
  • My amazing shoe collection
  • Having positive attitude and thoughts
  • Living a beautiful and amazing life in America
  • Crazy, silly and darling friends I can't live without
  • Coupons in the mail
  • Forever 21 being right around the corner to where I live
  • Love and blessings all around me

Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

What are you thankful for this year?

This is what happens when you stare at a word for too long

Dunno' why, but it just jumped at me.

Anymore words you have?

That's me!

So, here I am sharing with you my personal style.I am dressed to go out for a formal dinner at Kitichai, a thai restaurant in Thompson Hotel in Soho, and the occasion - Kartik and I were celebrating our five year anniversary. Woohoo.

Marshall Dress, Banana Republic coat, Banana Republic thin gold belt, Wolford stockings, Jill Stuart black pumps

I look serious, but that's because I was nervous posing. I mean do I smile or do I just pretend to be a model and pout. Aha! And so here's my pose. And yes, darlings, that's a stroller in the back. We were taking our son out on the dinner date as well....coz' well, he is a part of us and we need to celebrate together!

What do you think? Do let me know.

What makes it personal

We all have worn blue jeans with a t-shirt or black pants with a red blouse or a leopard print with a snakeskin. Ok, well maybe not the latter but some combination of the prints. But, what makes it look different on me from you or someone else is how we make it personal. Its how we launch our own spin at dressing ourselves and styling them - do we clip the edges with a hairpin, would it be a good idea to tuck the sides of shirt and leave the front part out or how about adding a brooch to spice up.

In this endeavor, I present to thee some personal styling tips I came across scoping the pages of street fashion. Everyday, these fashion forward peeps (and many more like them) are taking risks...BIG risks to challenge the norms of how we dress up. They just know how to twist that jeans and t-shirt look and make it  their own. Make it personal. I salute them because they are a source of inspiration, and when I look at them, I take away tips and tricks from them so I can learn how to make my clothes....more personal.

Here we roll, shall we?

WHAT MAKES IT PERSONAL: See! the tucked in shirt, but this one's in the front. And the belt giving pants that menswear feel - you know too large for your size.  Love it !

WHAT MAKES IT PERSONAL: The print mixing, holla!! Also note the monkey pin/brooch on the left front pocket. And, ofcourse, the bracelets bunch and rings tribe - openly being flaunted. Totally ghetto, but totally cool.

WHAT MAKES IT PERSONAL: First off, this lady has worn denim on denim (oh, no you dien't). Then, there are these big bozo cut-off shorts. But, how she works her magic is by layering it with a beautiful teal leather jacket, which makes the entire outfit an award winner!

WHAT MAKES IT PERSONAL: The oversize belt hanging on the simple green shorts is what defines this rather casual normal outfit. Then its the red lips. But, ofcourse.

WHAT MAKES IT PERSONAL: The pink bow-tie is such a unique combo against the deep blues and greens in her outfit. And, if you look closely, the shirt has been tied in a knot in the front and tucked nicely in the belt loops of pants. And, then bring the preppy outfit together by tucking it in combat studded boots. Love it!

WHAT MAKES IT PERSONAL: This simple shirt and jeans look goes glam because of the buttons done/undone. Sometimes its really that simple

WHAT MAKES IT PERSONAL: Need I point you the obvious? Didn't think so :)

WHAT MAKES IT PERSONAL: The blue watch. The roled up pleated pants. And, the white laced loafers.

WHAT MAKES IT PERSONAL: The neckline of the the simple white tee, the light washed jeans with a thick belt, and the bag adding the pop of color.  And, no accessory except for the simple round dial watch.

So darlings, you see how simple it is to make your outfit really your own. Now, did I just sound like a redundant radio? Oh, well you get the gist.

Do share some of your tips! Would love to know.

Love Love!

A quick question.

Would you like to see me model my personal style? I am feeling a bit shy/reserved because I don't think I would photograph that well and ummm...I honestly don't know where to start.

Any ideas, suggestions, help?

Love ya!

Yin and Yang

I just got back this past Saturday from mom's house and am feeling rejuvenated. Why? Coz' mommy dearie took care of my son while I sat on a cushy sofa, with my feet up and ate like a pig whale dog pig. Ok, I am not a bad daughter, I did help around and clean up the dishes and tidy up the room. But, having a break from changing diapers and feeding just made a huuuge difference.
Anywho, here's my weekly edition of yin and yang. Maybe I will call it something else going forward. But, here it is.

YIn and YangYin: Monsoon Coconut lip balmYang: Delias Triple Button Floral shorts and Oxford shirt
See you tomorrow darlings.

Today is 11-11-11.

So, what? Play lotto, dance like a kangaroo, dress up to the nines (or elevens) .... do what you love! That's what!

I am currently away at my mom's house, so excuse my intermittent posting. But, I have been itching to share with you the street styles that are inspiring me these days. Truth be told, I have to yet shop for my post-pregnancy figure for fall, but nonetheless, I think I can use these stylish frogs for inspiration, because my brain is what I like to call a "mommy brain."

Still rolling your eyes about my post-pregnancy figure? Get over it! Roll instead on the figures below:

Ok, this is menswear I know, but I see these pleated pants as totally women-wear as well. And, ofcourse the leather jacket. Did you notice how awesomely this man works out the different textures and tones of black. Genius!

Florals for Fall...hey, why not! loving the play on the prints dreamy. I like how she has kept the make up simple to offset the "loudness" of her clothes. Good.

I can see myself in that skirt. Totally wanting! I may switch the jacket to another color, say, green or red, because I don't like it too matchy matchy sometimes. But, her look here is very well put together!

Love the print, and the cape would be perfect for my ..err..umm bulges! What I like about this look - everything. She is wearing a utility jacket (or is it shirt) underneath and black jeans - a simple combo making a huge impact

Purrrfect coat! Just one statement piece in an outfit is all I need to purrrk up my look!

oh so glamorous, i hope i would look just as good! I love how she mixes up the grey and navy...accessorizes with gold tones and pops it all with a classic Chanel.

Why, yes yes yes! Lavender cut out details on the skirt and the casualness of a sweater. Totally inspirational!

Oh you lady! I am so jealous, but where will I ever find this cape? Where?

White palazzo pants in winter, bring em' on. Snake skin? bring em' on!

A little more white inspiration. Love the shoes with jewel heels!

Polka dots on polka dots. I think I can make this work by pairing a polka dot sweater over a polka dot pants. Hmm, right?

I think I can make some of these looks work. I am just amazed with such style out there. These ladies will always have my respect. R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

I don't know why, but I decided to share this with you. This, as in, random things that I think about when I am, say, driving, cooking, taking a shower, etc.  Sometimes I wonder that there is such randomness in my brain that I should bag them up and store them somewhere in public storage. Now, there, did you notice? What a random thought that was. And, totally silly! But, that's who I am, and why should I hide it.

Ok, here's your opportunity to peek a bit more in my mind, and know a bit more about me.

To randomness that dwells...

  • Why do we park in the driveway and drive on a parkway
  • These phone chargers need to be made more compact - they are monstrous
  • If you have indicators/signals on your car, use them - don't think you have to pay extra to use them
  • When we write an email, why do we have to sign our name, isn't it so clear and obvious who the email is from
  • Why does the sale begin only after I have already bought the stuff
  • What will happen to the watch industry...people now have sooo many digital devices to tell time
  • I really hope Barnes & Noble stays in business, I need this store around
  • I am indebted to the guys who created youtube. I can learn so many things by seeing a video, like, how to iron my shirt perfectly or how to assemble Ikea furniture. Plus, its very useful to play nursery rhymes while I am feeding my son
  • Road rage is stupid and the person who indulges in it, stupider!
  • I love using coupons when shopping, especially, for grocery and everyday item. Love it when my receipt says, "You saved $10.35 today" .Yes, I collect
  • Why are these bananas I bought "product of China" - really, c'mon??
  • I don't like oversmart people. Too heavy and lopsided personalities
Ah, that's enough for now. More randomness coming your way in the future.

Love ya!

This image has me transfixed! Maybe its the stark yellow against the black or the gleaming gold accents of the satchel or perhaps the delicately braided bracelet on the woman's wrist. Dunno, but I am stuck on to this photo.

What do you think the lady looks like? Is she a blonde or brunette? Does she have a mole above her lip?

Albino, Maiyet, Vionnet and Brood: Feel their love

Ever since I laid my eyes on their designs, I have been day dreaming about how wonderful it would be if, by luck, these designers came up to me and asked me to wear their clothes. They would send me an outfit for each day of the week, and because I am talking about four fabulous designers, it would mean four outfit changes in a day. How divine!

But here's how I chanced upon these secret geniuses. As I was researching for my post on fashion garbage, I landed on their collection, and was ready to plunder their stuff, when I stopped on my tracks on the very first outfit. Would I have committed a sin by tagging their collection as garbage, I wondered and then immediately went on to thank God for my fashion antenna beeping loud and clear.
Because they are still hushed-hushed about, I am going to scream about them to all of you, and hoping that you would do the same to your friends - scream at them about these fashion finds forces.

They are a bunch and you will love them. Or you won't. But either ways, you will thank me (or you won't) for introducing them to you.

If you are in a drabby state with your clothes, pick any of Albino's jewel toned or printed dress and be merry. His cuts are sporty and futuristic, but retain an elegant charm that is sure to linger on - just like your favorite perfume.

You have to know that this label is all about promoting community development through its clothes. But, at the same time, its also a smart business idea. Created by a South African human rights lawyer, Maiyet brings together artisans from developing countries in creating a luxury collection that is beautiful and world changing at the same time.

The designer Rodolfo Paglialunga had me at the butterflies. And, then I noticed how stunning were the clothes on the models as well. The colors are rich and nicely contrasted, the cuts are classic yet there is a bit of sexiness thrown in, and all the outfits just speak of yesteryear's elegance, which seems to be making a comeback finally.

Designer Serkan Serier is no stranger to haute couture, and he does not want to fool you with his brand name. He means serious fashion stuff, and has the goods to prove it. After having honed his skill at Giambattista Valli and Carolina Herrera, he has clearly made his mark on how he wants to dress up the female species. Let's just say, he has a knack for that. Ombre effects on colors, textured fabric, edgy silhouette, and sporty vibe define his capsule collection, which is everything a fashionable chick would want to get her dirty claws on.
