What's the Emi.lio?

After talking about Jill Sander, I just have to mention Emilio Pucci. Simply stated, Peter Dundas, the design/creative director behind the brand has done full justice to the image of Pucci. His flowy chiffon dresses, sensuous pant suits (in white, fringe and lace tie-ups), see-through crochet cover-ups, fiesty prints, dangerous cuts and vav-voom swimsuits scream I am a prima donna who gets what I want, and I am ready to fly my private jet for vacation in St Tropez. Gas prices can kiss my thigh high leather boots. Ah, isn't it fun to be living in the lap of luxury!
Well, I say, why feel bad about not having a private jet of your own, instead dress the part, and your mind will automatically make you feel like a princess. It will give you the confidence to get whatever you want, because lets admit it, at the end of the day, there's nothing a pair of good pants, good shoes and a happy attitude cannot snag! There....Emilio Pucci is the new self improvement guru...sorta!

Love!

Sander oh Sander oh Simons

When I came across Jill Sander's Spring 2011 collection, I didn't know what to love more. The dresses, the colors, the silhouettes or the genius that is Raf Simons! As a fashion curious girl of thirteen growing up in India, I got my education on Vivienne Westwood, Adrienne Vitaddini, Bill Blass, Anna Sui, and Jill Sander from the Fashion Runway show that aired on Star TV in the 90s. I was smitten and wanted to morph my oh-so-boring-and-totally-uncool wardrobe into the shiny Westwood skirts, Vitaddini pants, Blass blazer, Sui dresses and Sander everything! I was in love, and tried my very best to concoct my own versions of these fashiony clothes. Did I succeed? Heck yeah, umm, I mean, I was able to tear the monogram on my school's blazer and replace it with a sparkly heart! And, so on...

Ok then darlings, without further delay, ogle at your own expense, if you haven't already:

Jil Sander Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Good to wear at a formal dinner, white and navy combo is my favorite. Cannot go wrong with this at all

yowza - and notice the bags! It has party written all over it, umm, or for that matter, a daytime lunch in the Hamptons...

I have so much more to talk and share on fashion with you. You with me so far??

Skirting the Issue

I have been thinking about skirts. A lot. Its like a perennial state of mind because, well, its summer darlings! Skirts. to me, represent sun, fun (wow, didn't expect the rhyme here), freedom (as in being light and free), legs (God bless those with looong legs), flirting (wind blowing the bejeesus out of your skirt), and sass. Yes, sass.
Why am I late to the party on talking about skirts, you may ask. Well, let's just say I didn't have any time before. And, so before I start talking nonsense, let me share some pieces that make me drool. I mean, one look and you are ready to take a second mortgage to finance these bad girls! Well, not really, but you get the point.

The Skirt Issue

The first column are floral beauties, sure to create sunshine around you when you wear them. The second set celebrates the vixen in you. You can be baaad and look sexy at the same time. woot woot! The third collection is edgier in its scallopy (totally made up word for personal benefit) glory. These would look great to wear, say, at an art exhibition or going for a private concert on the rooftop. The final collection is a part oomph part club hopping...you just can't go wrong!
[For more information on these skirts, as in pricing and site to buy, please visit my page here]

Now, don't be shy, you can thank me by leaving me a nice note in the comments section or sending a virtual hug! Its all about bright life and good style chicas!!

Love!

ps. Sorry, but the image above is smaller than I thought, and I am trying to enlarge it. If any suggestions, please let me know

Meandering(s) of Mind

The weather was, let's say, rather balmy today. Sun played hide and seek with the clouds, the wind danced unapologetically around leaves, and I stood there, at the edge of the pier, behind the railings, in silence . It was one of those days where I felt overwhelmed with things in my life, where just nothing seemed to make any cosmic sense. I tried to hide tears rolling from the corner of my eye because I didn't want anyone to see, and because I am very protective about them. I tend to hold my hurt tight in my heart, until I cannot breathe and then I eventually release it like some limited edition pieces - once every six months.
You see, silence is very powerful. I don't know if you have experienced it in its entirety, but I can tell you this much, it can make or break you. Thankfully, this time around, it made me.
It made me realize that its ok to be overwhelmed, that sometimes things don't have to make sense, and that I can let go of my hurt. Breathe, I told my heart and it listened. I snapped out of the trance feeling light and free. As I started to walk back home, the wind danced unapologetically around me.
When I reached my apartment and opened the door, there was a menu card lying on the floor. I picked it up, and was about to throw it, when I saw the words and burst out in a loud, almost snorting, laugh!

I am so glad that this is how it all ended.

Cool Baby Clothes, and the Art of Saying Whoopaa!

So when I ran yesterday, sorry, today early early morning, to pick up my whaling son, it turned out to be a long long process of putting him back to sleep. He is 5/12 months old. Now, I  have read at multiple sites and in various books that you should let the baby cry out because you need to let them learn how to fall back to sleep on their own. Ok, I am not sure about you, but I had and continue to have a hard time in following this "cry out" method. Don't get me wrong, as a new mother, I am open to all suggestions, and I did give this method a try. Well, end result: I ended up crying out loud instead. I just couldn't see my baby cry his heart out, while I stood there like a zombie doing nothing. It was so hard. I am the old fashioned kind, and that means you need to soothe the baby, let him know you are there for him, hug him or rock him...whatever works. Just not be cold stone and hear the crying. So, how have I fared in this method. Hmm, it was trying at first, but now my babyroo knocks out in approx 1-2 minutes of rocking. And, since he is on breast milk only, he gets up about twice throughout the 11-12 hour period. Its not that hard.

Well, well, since we are talking about babies, I have to confess, I am in love love love with baby clothes. They are just so adorable...you know, clothes for tiny people. And these days big brand names have started to invest in this industry. Oh, heart warmer! I would definitely buy a Burberry Trench for my lil' man or a pair of Gucci loafers or I could simply save  all that money to invest in a house instead. Guess which one I'd pick? Yup, the latter ofcourse. I am a smart shopper, and unless I see true value in purchase of a luxury item, I do not buy it. I hold back my heart, whims and fancies so that my credit card bill does not drown them. You can get there darlings, it just takes a bit practice to attain this stage :)

This does not mean I do not scour the internet for the most trendy outfits for babies. It always keeps my mind afresh of ideas when dressing my babyroo. And, I have to confess. Again. I also keep a tab on baby girl clothes too. I have two nieces and I just loooerve shopping for them. Ok, so here goes my pallet for summer.

First up - Baby Girl

And now, Baby Boy

Baby Boy_Fashion

I thought it would be easy to pick cool pieces for boys, but it wasn't. Nonetheless, I have to say, girl's clothes rock big time! But, then how crisp and smart is that peachy cuff shirt...adorable! Here are the details (from left to right)

1. Googly eyed lizard hoodie by Crazy8, $6.99 (hello, savings!)
3. Three Eyed Monster Tank, Gymboree, $3.99 (hello again - and why do boys clothing cost so less?, why am I complaining anyways? :P)
4. Linen Roll Cuff Shirt, JanieandJack, $36 (spoke too soon)
5. Anglerfish Baseball Hat, Gymboree, $7.49
7. Plaid Sneaker, $19.95
9. Plaid Cargo Short, Crazy8. $6.99
10. Frayed Denim Short, $6.99 (originally for $15...pssst, Crazy8 is becoming my go-to site for my kiddo's clothes)

I cannot leave without telling you this. A few days ago, there was an article in Wall Street Journal about  Baby Branding. Obviously, the article caught my fancy (so did the picture of a lil' boy in Burberry Trench), and I had to see what they were talking about. Through this article, I found out about Gucci's new line for babies...yumm! Now Now, I am not saying I am going to buy them (ahem, not yet) but its's always good to peruse the look book - no harm there, right? The ka-ching stays in the purse, right?

Here's a preview of some of my fav:

Hello, My Name is...

Its almost 2 in the morning, and my mind has decided not to let me sleep. On the desk lies my husband's office keys, a used camera bag, pens in a cup, a folder with documents that I have need to scan, and a box of nails. Box of nails? What's that doing here? Hmm, maybe husband dear forgot to put it back. Oh, another addition to my daily chores.
So, now that we both are here, accept my hello and welcome. Talking about chores is probably not the best way to get introduced, but what can you do when you are a housewife with a cute little cuddle-pooh son who keeps you on your toes all day! Did I mention its 2 am?
I just had to start this blog, to follow my dream of documenting things of beauty, of style, of "taking-your-breath-away" kinds, and ofcourse the musings of my mind! There's a lot going up there, you know. I see this blog as making a positive difference in your life, using fashion and creativity as its base. If anything on this blog makes you feel good, think good, then my work is done!

Ready to roll with me...loving you already for that!
Hey, whats that I hear...oh, my son just woke up, need to stop blabbering, will catch you tomorrow. Wait. I mean today!

Love!
